Foot Reading

The painting on fabric was originally created as part of an interactive fortune-telling performance. A humorous take on palm readings and traditional foot reflexology diagrams, the work also reflects on ideas of intimacy, pain, discomfort, humiliation, wellness, and fortune. In foot reflexology, meridian points on the bottom of the foot corresponds with various organs of the body. Putting pressure on the meridian points can improve physical health in corresponding human body systems. The work integrates human psychological and spiritual states with foot reflexology, the holistic medical practice popular in physical self-care.
